Tuesdays with Morrie isn’t just a play; it’s a gentle reminder of everything we forget when life gets loud. It doesn’t demand your attention — it simply sits beside you, like an old friend, and
asks you to listen. The production I saw leaned into that simplicity. Two people, a handful of chairs, and a lifetime’s worth of truth between them. Morrie’s warmth filled the room long before he spoke, and Mitch’s guardedness felt painfully familiar — that modern scramble to be everything except present. What struck me most was the pacing. The play breathes. It gives you space to sit with the uncomfortable bits; grief, regret, the fear of slowing down and then nudges you toward the softer truths: kindness, connection, choosing what actually matters. It’s emotional without tipping into sentimentality, and wise without ever preaching. By the final scene, the audience wasn’t just watching a goodbye; we were being invited to consider our own Tuesdays, the people we’ve drifted from, the conversations we’ve postponed, the parts of ourselves we’ve left waiting in the wings. And let’s be honest: you’ll walk out with a lump in your throat, the kind you pretend is “just the lighting” even though everyone knows better. A simple story, beautifully told, and a reminder that sometimes the smallest conversations change us the most.
Chris Balmer
Chris Balmer you have summed this up so well. I described the pace to my daughter as moments that allowed me to just sit back and take it all in. I read the book many years ago and left the theatre feeling exactly as I did all those years ago when I finished the book. Well done all
A really beautiful little play, beautifully performed and expertly directed. 👏👏👏.
I saw this wonderful production on opening night! It was truly breathtaking. I laughed, cried as these two fantastic actors took the audience on an emotional roller coaster! Honestly one of the most emotional pieces of theatre I've seen ❤️
My daughter and I were fortunate enough to see this performance. From the beginning we were deeply invested in the relationship between Morrie and Mitch and by the end we were in tears. This is a piece where the relationship between the two men is beautifully and sensitively portrayed. It’s understated, subtle, and full of compassion. It draws the audience into the depth and strength of the bond between the two men.
The two actors are brilliant and make the relationship totally authentic. Altogether this was a wonderful piece of theatre.
Thank you to everyone involved.
John Howarth It was great to meet you and to be able to tell you what an effect your performance had. I’m still thinking about it. I wish you well for the rest of the run. I’m sure everyone will love it as much as we did. How could they not?
Really first class production and acting, leaving you doing a great deal of thinking about your own mortality.
Having seen it I now understand how disappointed I would have been to miss it! Take tissues everyone, fabulous performances, fabulous production 🥰
Beautiful performances tonight. Well done x

Huge congrats. We’re so glad we came along and it was a fantastic show, with brilliant performances 🥰
I'm struggling to type this through tears. You were wonderful, what a beautiful play. So very proud of you, Myrna would be bursting with pride. You put so much into it. It can't have been easy for you, I was a wreck😢but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done 👏❤️.
The standing ovation was all deserved xxx
John you were wonderful tonight, the two of you had such a beautiful relationship and the two characters complemented each other so well. Honestly I was with you both from minute one, it was fantastic I'm still crying now after your performance tonight 🙈 xx
Saw it last night also and agree totally with Chris's review. A well written play and an incredible interpretation by two amazing actors. Theatre at its best.
John Howarth a wonderful production. You were both brilliant!
Pass on my congratulations to all involved. Loved Olivia’s song.
Xx
Superb John. Very moving. The play and both performances will stay with me for some time. Thank you. Particularly poignant as I had a friend who passed last week so many of the lines resonated. 😥 Great direction as well.
Congratulations on your performance last night. It was such a nuanced and sensitive
portrayal. Well done 👏
We came to the show last night, it was amazing. Beautifully performed, very emotional and thought provoking, congratulations to all. Thank you xxx👏👏👏
John. A beautiful performance. Insightful, nuanced, subtle, gentle, intelligent, lightly delivered yet passionate and in a breath, soaring in his silence. We were drawn into his reminiscences, his honesty, his resolution. You gave us a window on a life and on a soul. I was a part of the action. I couldn’t escape him and didn’t want to. A triumph. Bravo
What a great show. I know how much effort you’ve put into it and the result was richly deserved . The play had everything. The pace and interaction between Mitch and Morrie gave it reality coupled with sadness, joy, sorrow and it had the ability to make us reflect on the important things in life. Both you and Stephen totally deserved the standing ovation. Well done.
Lovely, moving production with wonderful acting by you and Stephen. A lot of people have been touched by MND, it’s more common than people imagine. Great to see you on stage and looking forward to future performances.
You know my thoughts on it John Howarth I salute you both for a moving and evocative experience.
Thank you for this wonderful production. Many congratulations xx
It was a lovely watch John, such a moving play and you encapsulated Morrie so beautifully xx
I absolutely loved it 🎭
John I watched the film the other night with Jack Lemmon - in his final TV role. Obviously anything with Jack Lemmon is always going to be good but to be honest it lacked the intimacy of your production. By opening the film up with additional characters and sets the relationship between Mitch and Morrie suffered in my view and they never quite captured the love that shone through in the play. Worth watching and won buckets of awards but definitely
inferior to yours.
